Military Great-Coats and swords with an Autumn theme was the plan for Simon and Ben's wedding and they certainly delivered!!!
This was my second wedding at the temple of Apollo in Stourhead and it is just gorgeous, monuments, vast amounts of trees (Just turning for Autumn) and great big lake, well the list could go on and on, so i think you get the picture...
The day started with a little bit of preparations with Simon and his family, all was going well until Simon couldn't find his shirt, but a second one was quickly found and the best man took care of the ironing!!!
From there it was just a short distance to Stourhead where i met Ben and everyone else...There seemed to be more and more military people turning up every minute, they were going to form the biggest honour guard i have ever seen and made a great picture...
A little jaunt up the hill and i was greeted with spectacular views and the temple is just so picturesque. The service was performed outside which was a good idea as there is only room for 30 in the temple... We had fire pits, readings and a little bit of emotion during the ceremony which all makes for some great photos...
After the ceremony i waited a while before we did some groups and just had to use the backdrop for the main groups and for the big group shot we used the temple, we even had time for a large group 5 second challenge, which always makes for some fun images...We then did a little bit of portrait work and quiet reflection followed by a very scary sword fight!!!!
Once we walked back down i popped in while everyone was getting changed into Mess Kit for evening event and caught some nice candid moments. The meal and reception room was decorated beautifully with pumpkins, conkers and all things Autumnal... The speeches were just such good fun with Ben, Simon and the Best men going outside in the darkness for their speeches.
The ceiliedh band were brilliant and got everyone dancing and involved very quickly and once most had mastered the moves the pace didn't stop...
I finished the evening off with a shot of the boys smoking cigars and just relaxing outside....
So Simon and Ben, thank you so much for finding me and then asking me to record you very special and incredibly fun day..It will be a most memorable wedding and i hope you enjoy your photos for years to come....
For anyone planning a wedding at Stourhead i can only encourage you to book early as the venue and staff are just brilliant!!!
