Charlton House, Somerset - Weddings with Kelly and Damien

Fun, Laughter, Christmas and just an all round lovely day spent with Kelly and Damien's wonderful family and friends.  Here is one of my last weddings of the Year, and what a great way to finish 2017.  A December wedding can be risky business, but apart from a little bit chilly, the weather was certainly kind to us.

Please have a good read from the lovely Kelly and then of course have a look through this gorgeous wedding at Charlton House, a venue I would certainly like to visit again.

So it all started when I was at my friends wedding and I noticed that her wedding photographer was capturing so many beautiful moments without anybody even knowing he was there ...not only that he was smart, professional and very on the ball. After getting engaged I decided I wanted him to do my own wedding! So I pre booked David as he’s very popular!..wow what can I say!...After the wedding was sadly over, David started sending me a few snaps which really got me feeling emotional and kept memories and happy thoughts rolling ....he then sent me the collection which are not only outstanding, they capture the entire day perfectly! We didn’t know he was even there most of the time and he has provided me with everything and more than I could of wished for!I am so happy with the photos and I certainly would recommend David to anybody wanting their wedding day captured perfectly!David also gave us a pre wedding shoot which allowed us all to understand how we wanted to look and get to know each other..along with tips for the day. David is by far the best photographer I have ever met and wish him all the success for the future! Best wishes and thanks from Kelly & Damien Hawker Hicks xxx

How did you first meet and how did the proposal go? We both met 11 years ago in a nightclub in Bristol out of all places (haha)...the actual proposal was secretly planned to be at the wedding venue but the ring didn’t turn up!..So instead I was proposed to in the Cobb in Lyme Regis ...cold but nice !

The Pre Shoot

What did you think of the pre shoot and how did it go? I really liked the pre shoot but my partner hates having photo taken so wasn’t too keen ..but he soon got into it and it really helped it on the wedding day So was a good idea we both did it!!also good for tips!!!

The Dress

Where did you get the dress from, why did you choose it and what was it like?  How many dresses did you try before you found this one? I got my dress from krystle at krystle brides who is actually an old school friend of mine !..I tried on many dresses and actually choose the opposite to my original chosen dress !

Why did you choose the wedding locations and the wedding Venue? We both have stayed at Charlton house many times and loved it so both agreed it would be a perfect place for our venue .It also isn’t somewhere that people necessarily have been before and In fact was a new place for most of the guests....

Who did your make up and any advice on this? I did (haha) myself and three of my maids are fully qualified make up artists!!handy!!

Who did the flowers? My bridesmaids husbands sister called Vera - owns a new shop in Bristol and is very good

When planning your wedding, did you have any help or did you do it mostly yourselves? What were the most important aspects for you (eg. the photographer, the food, the decor…)? I did it all myself via Pinterest !!the  most important things were the dress ,hair, photographer, the decorations/flowers ,cake ,maids dresses, music ,details and everything tbh!!...

What was your wedding inspiration? (think decor, overall theme and feel of the day, etc) Christmas!!!All Christmas themed - tea light and mini Christmas trees ....spices and smells With  pretty pinecones and fake snow covered tables !!

  •         Bride: What advice would you give to future brides for their wedding day? Make sure you breathe and relax as I found I was getting myself too stressed which wasn’t helping  !!Also take 5 mins away to think about everybody who is there for you and reflect - it goes too quickly and you must enjoy every moment!!..also try and incorporate a breakfast the day after as this was really good!

  •         Groom: What advice would you give to future grooms for their wedding day? Leave it to your wife to be!!haha!!! or just turn up!

  •         What’s your top tip for saving money? Mmmmm no answer - we defo didn’t save !!!

  •         and which elements of your wedding are you glad you spent more on? The photographer !!...the flowers and decor also made it very special - so defiantly  that!!The dresses and suits and venue were all very important to spend money on ..

  •         Any other advice for future couples out there? Be yourself ,be happy and make it unique to you and not for anybody else!!!
