Taking 15 mins out in the evening is an important part of the day and some time to reflect an a perfect wedding

A music-filled Ashley Wood Farm wedding in Wiltshire

Hannah and Jordan’s wedding at Ashley Wood Farm was one of those weddings that felt completely centred around people, music and pure joy. As a documentary Wiltshire wedding photographer, these are always the days I love most to capture — relaxed celebrations where everyone is fully present and nobody is trying to force the day into something it isn’t.

From the kilts and live music to the ceilidh dancing and incredible Italian food, the whole wedding had this wonderfully warm, welcoming atmosphere from start to finish.

Documentary wedding photography - Kilts, live music and a brilliant atmosphere

The boys all wore kilts which instantly brought so much personality and energy to the day, especially once the evening dancing started. Music ran through the entire wedding too, with Hannah’s mum playing piano, bridesmaids performing violin pieces and even a harpist adding to the atmosphere during the day.

Out on the lawn, their lovely friends Joe and Olive played an acoustic set while guests relaxed in the sunshine at Ashley Wood Farm. It honestly felt more like a garden party festival at times, with people drifting between the gardens, drinks flowing and music constantly filling the venue.

Dogs, children and weddings exactly as they should be

One of my favourite things about this Ashley Wood Farm wedding was how inclusive and relaxed everything felt. There were almost as many dogs as children running around which completely summed Hannah and Jordan up — nobody was excluded from the celebrations.

That atmosphere also made for some ridiculously fun group photographs. Nothing stiff or overly posed, just everyone fully embracing the day, laughing constantly and throwing themselves into every moment. Those natural interactions are exactly why I love documentary wedding photography so much.

One of my favourite photographs from the day is the brilliantly chaotic group shot later in the evening. Kids climbing everywhere, guests trying to balance on chairs, people crying laughing and absolute mayhem unfolding across the frame — but somehow it all works perfectly. It feels far more like a real memory than a formal wedding portrait, which is exactly what I always want these photographs to become over time.

Confetti, bubbles and beautiful chaos

The confetti moment outside the barn was another huge highlight. Guests lined the courtyard cheering while bubbles floated through the sunshine and Hannah and Jordan completely disappeared into the moment together.

Those are always the photographs I’m most drawn to as a Wiltshire wedding photographer — the real reactions that happen when people stop thinking about the camera entirely. The little details throughout the frame make those moments even better too; children watching from the side, guests mid-cheer and kilts catching the sunlight as everyone piles into the celebration.

Throughout the gallery there are also loads of quieter in-between moments that help tell the story of the day properly. Dogs wandering through conversations, guests listening to music out on the lawn, hugs happening unnoticed in the background while something entirely different unfolds in the foreground — all the moments that would otherwise disappear without being photographed.

A ceilidh to finish the night

The evening ceilidh was absolute chaos in the best possible way. Kilts flying everywhere, guests spinning the wrong direction and people collapsing laughing halfway through dances — it was such a brilliant way to finish an unforgettable wedding at Ashley Wood Farm.

Weddings like this are exactly why I love being a documentary Wiltshire wedding photographer. Real moments, brilliant people and a wedding day that felt completely true to Hannah and Jordan from beginning to end.
